I’m online an average of 8 hours a day?
Why?
Being online, talking to golfers and business people, is my business. It is what I have been doing since 2004.
So you would think I would see and engage with thousands of private golf clubs and country clubs around the world.
Bottomline is, there just are not that many golf facilities using social media as it should be used.
So Why Is That?
Most of the golf facilities I talk to are still struggling to understand the need for them to change to using social media.
Here it is, 2019, and many in the golf facility sector of golf have not gotten their arms around the power of digital marketing.
Recent studies show that only 43% of the public and private golf clubs have a presence online but do not use social media. 80% of their members and customers use social media. That means there are a lot of golf facilities delivering their message to the wrong place.
Where is the Disconnect?
What it always comes down to as the reason they dodge using digital marketing is their not wanting to spend the money on something they do not feel will have an ROI.
However, they see spending a boatload of money maintaining their golf course as part of their marketing strategy to bring in more golfers.
What are they going to use to tell the public they have the best golf courses in the town, area, region, country or World?
Private golf clubs are going to have to market what they have to offer to the public. Spend their marketing budget on plastic banners placed around the facility isn’t even close to hitting their target market.
Sure, potential new members who visit the club will see the material, but does it close the deal? No.
Private Country Clubs, along with the rest of the golf industry, need to get professional advice on how to better market their facilities.
Learn Digital Marketing
To catch up with the market, the golf industry needs to learn the importance of social media and fast track to developing a video-centric digital marketing strategy.
Adding influence marketing backed up with researching to target potential members, events and businesses are located who would benefit from being a member, hosting their event or business conference at the golf club would be the next step.
Having a person dedicated to engaging in conversation with the people interested in their video marketing will produce 40% more results than any of the marketing strategies based solely on “Hope”.
Yes, effective digital marketing using a sound video marketing strategy will cost more. But the return will be far more.
So, if using social media effectively is going to have better results than the static marketing they currently use, Why aren’t golf clubs marketing their facility online?
