I really am blown away with how many people in the golf industry who respond to me with…
I never heard of Social Media.
Yes, I was surprised also. Especially with all the hype about Social Media in the news nearly everyday and almost everything that is going on around the world. However, there are still a number of people, not just in golf, that hear the words social media and react to it like the words ‘Pet Rock’. To them Social Media is a fad. They feel if they get involve with using social media it will leave them looking foolish or keeping them from capturing an opportunity.
There are many country clubs and golf clubs being forced to close because of that attitude. With each club that is forced to close another access point for golfers to play golf is cut off.
Its not funny, but yet interesting how many golfers I find in some of the communities where these clubs folded who did not even know that the golf club existed. If they knew it was there they would of played the course or maybe consider becoming a member. This is a prime example of how poorly many golf clubs market themselves.
Hopefully, the many in the golf business community who are floundering with the failed economy will reach out and learn more about how to get their message out to their markets in a trustworthy manor before it is too late. Social Media fortunately forces trust to the surface if trust is part of the business. If not, then social media can put an untrustworthy business out of business. I really hope that is not the case.
Let me know how I can help.
