I really enjoyed the article written by Garry McKay of GolfIndustryNetwork.CA
I have been seeing firsthand the same things going on here in North Texas as Garry reports are happening in Ontario, Canada.
I also am hearing frequently…
“Sorry, Our tee sheets are full”. And, what you hear from private “We now have waiting lists at our Country Club.”
I also hear frequently that…“People who had left golf are returning in droves.” And. of course, we all have been hearing for the last 10 years that… “people who had never played before are taking up the game of golf”.
My response has always been
Really!!??
I am not seeing what the golf advertisements are saying is happening in the world of golf. I am not seeing golf courses overflowing with turn-away crowds of golfers…any day of the week.
And, I am not hearing from the large number of country club members I know around the country that their private country clubs a waiting lists.
I’m not hearing from the executive directors of the non-profits who organize charity golf tournaments that it has become easier to fill their event with golfers…or even non-golfers.
What I’m Hearing
What I am hearing from the hundreds of golfers who message me through my entire Mr. Business Golf digital footprint is….golf is getting too expensive. Or…the pace of golf played on their golf course is getting slower….and what I hear from the newbies to golf is the instruction of golf…or learning curve of golf…is not gotten any easier.
Guess the question is, do the owners of golf businesses really care about the game of golf?
So, Really!?
Hat’s off to Mr. McKay for confirming what is happening to the game of golf. And as always…
Let me know how I can help.
