When was the last time you took a Golf Vacation? Well, that is too long!
Not too many years ago, my wife and I traveled around the states to play golf. Then the dark clouds of the 2008 global economic recession rolled in and golf became a four letter word to the hundreds of industries who formerly use golf as a business tool.
Golf vacations became clandestine affairs. Anyone who played golf, or dear say they were going to travel anywhere to play golf, was scorned and labeled as someone who was frivolous with money…or time.
OH, the glories of how time changes things. New reports and studies are coming out each month supporting the return of golf vacation as returning to the mainstay of growth in tourism around the world. This corresponds with the growth golf has experienced over the past five years.
You may ask, were are the Hot Spots for golf vacations?
My preference for golf vacations is..and probably will always be…the Palm Springs, CA area. Of course, you would not have to hog tie me to go to the Phoenix, AZ area. Either one of those locations will provide any golfer with their ‘Golf Fix’.
However, my home state of Texas does have some awesome golf courses. The golf courses and resorts in the Hill Country around Austin and San Antonio could keep a golfer satisfied for a lifetime.
But, hey, let’s not forget the motherland of golf in the USA…Florida. I’ve had a few really great golf vacations along the east coast. The Golf coast and Georgia Golf can’t be left out of the list of places to go.
Even on the West Coast with Bandon Dunes, and the wonderlands of Carmel, San Francisco, LA, and San Diego.
New Adventures
Vegas Golf has always been a fun adventure. The Off-Strip courses are my favorite. Then you have Utah Golf..where I have not been yet, but hear it is where it becomes really hard to keep your eye on the golf ball with all that wonderful landscape that Utah has.
Minnesota golf is great when you are looking for places to go to get out the heat of Texas during the summer.
The adventure of golf travel is back and I am so glad to see the travel industry getting back to focusing on Golf providing a purpose to get out and see the great country of ours. Who knows…you may even run into me somewhere out there on one of the playgrounds for golfers.
Let me know how I can help.
