Yesterday I had the unique opportunity to peek inside the gates of one of the most exclusive private country clubs in North Texas. There natural are several of them in the Dallas/Ft Worth area but the one that tops them all when it comes to privacy and planned living is named Vaquero.
Sitting in the middle of the ranch lands of Westlake, Tx,, a rural small town between Dallas and Ft Worth, this member owned sprawling golf community fits perfect into it’s western theme. The Vaquero golf course which just opened after a $1million+ renovation really highlight’s Tom Fazio’s ability to test a golfer’s skills. From it’s back tee it stretch out over 7200 yds testing the best of the best of golfers…for which there are a few PGA Members who reside at Vaquero to put the golf facilites thru it’s paces.
Opened in 2001, the Vaquero quickly set the standard for private club membership in North Texas. “The members here are just everyday folk who really don’t fit the mould of the traditional country club member. The club is just part of the lifestyle the members enjoy.” said Casey Paulson, General Manager.
The Vaquero Fish Camp was one of the highlights of the tour. Here members and their family can enjoy a unique outdoor experience of fishing on the club’s private lake which just so happens to be stocked with an ample supply of fish.
As far as business golf, Vaquero clubhouse fits the bill nicely for members to use as the perfect getaway for casual or formal business talk after a round of challenging golf. The private facilities certainly will impress the member’s guests..it impress me.
Thanks to Vaquero for allowing me to tour the facility and I hope to return someday for a round of business golf.
