The third day of the Nelson brought damage control after two waves of downpour rain with Baseball size hail went through the TPC Golf course in Las Colinas. The Caddy for a Cure Pro-AM had to be delayed an hour to give the ground keepers time to redo every sand bunker and fix the large divots on the greens.
Comments on the damage from Slugger White, PGA Tour VP, Rules and Competition..I don’t know if I’ve seen anything like it. I was here last night, the hail was half the size of a baseball and it beat everything up pretty well and my admiration goes out for John Cunningham and his crew, they did a great job getting this place playable this morning with just an hour delay. They’ve been going at it since 5AM this morning and just did a great job.
There were several cars in the parking lot damaged along with a number of the Cadillac’s displayed around the course.
Other than that, the third day was sun shining with temps in the mid 80’s..perfect Golf weather. The big day starts tomorrow on Thursday with the 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship starts.
