Sometimes the simple solutions to Golf’s sluggish economy are the hardest to make, but need to be made. More golfers need to be talking to their goverment representatives about helping Golf help itself. Join the conversation on Google+.
I have always been a firm advocate that giving golfers incentives in the form of a tax deduction for using golf as a business tool would boost the golf economy by at least $1 Billion a year. For the naysayers who will naturally say this incentive would be abused by the filthy rich I can come up with at least three measures that would keep that from happening. But, until those measures are needed..I’ll say that for another day.

“DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., February, 3, 2015- The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced today that Volunteers of America, the national, nonprofit organization, will serve as the title sponsor for the Tour’s stop in North Texas. The Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout will be held April 27-May 3, 2015, and will be played at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas, for the third consecutive year.” Courtesy of LPGA Press Release
Yes, that is right. The North Texas LPGA Shootout has a Title Sponsor. So what is the big deal?
The big deal is not just that one of the best LPGA events on the schedule has a title sponsor but more importantly who the sponsor is and what they represent.
The Volunteers of America “… organization is dedicated to helping those in need live healthy, safe and productive lives. Through hundreds of human service programs, including housing and health care, Volunteers of America helps more than 2 million people in over 400 communities.”
Having a title sponsor helps not just the survivability of the event but also makes an impact on the local community where the event is held through the boost to the area’s economy as well the fundraising for charity.
Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, faith based organization dedicated to helping those in need to live healthy, safe and productive lives. Since 1896, our ministry of service has supported and empowered America’s most vulnerable groups, including veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, at-risk youth, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families of those recovering from additions and many others. Through hundreds of human services programs, including housing and health care, Volunteers of America helps more than 2 million people ion over 400 communities. Our work touches the mind, body, heart and ultimately the spirt of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services. Lean more at www.voa.org
